First of all: Thank you for all your wonderful e-mails of
support and encouragement. I am honored that so many of you are following our
journey and have expressed concern because I have not updated since the
ultrasound. My parents are here from North Carolina for graduation so things
have been super busy! Well let’s get to the good stuff!!!!
When I spoke to the intended parents last week they told me
that they didn’t want to know how many babies the ultrasound showed and only
wanted to know if things were healthy. My next ultrasound is in 3 weeks and
they will be attending it so they thought they would wait until then to see how
many little heart beats we have in there. Of course I would respect their
wishes but I knew it was going to be the hardest thing ever!! They quickly
changed their minds because they were so excited!!
My ultrasound was scheduled for 8am and I arrived 10 minutes
early. They didn’t take me back until 8:20. That was the longest half hour of
my life! I was so anxious I thought I was going to pass out! The tech turned
the screen towards me so I could see. I wasn’t looking for the shape of a baby
because it is so early…I was searching for that familiar flutter on the screen.
It didn’t take but a second and there it was the beautiful flutter of a heart
beat!!! It hit me. I really am pregnant!! There was one cute little bean on the
screen with a heart rate in the 120’s. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough
to let the parents know! It was such an amazing feeling of joy. I love being
able to feel how excited the parents are through the phone. I absolutely cannot
wait until the next ultrasound for them to come to North Dakota!!
I was a little confused because I thought I would get to
start weaning off of some of my meds after this ultrasound but I was wrong.
After the next ultrasound, I will start doing my shots every other day and
lower my estrogen. I will be completely off meds at 12 weeks of pregnancy and
the placenta will take over. Five more weeks of meds!!
So excited to have a bun in the oven!!
